Two technicians work on a windowed sectional door, one kneeling at the bottom section and one on a ladder, with a canal and boat docks behind them

A dented section gets swapped; the other panels stay

A sectional door is built from separate panels, and the label inside names the exact model. If that model is still produced and the other panels are in good shape, the damaged one is ordered to match and replaced by itself.

  • On site: 1 to 2 hours, after the new section arrives
  • Florida license CGC15***92

Signs this is your problem

  • A car or a golf cart touched the door on its way out, and the lowest section is pushed in.
  • A section is creased across its full width, not just dented.
  • A crack runs along the joint between two sections, or a section's end cap has split near a hinge.
  • The door catches or scrapes every time the bent section rolls past the rail.
  • The bottom section has rusted through along its lower edge, where water sat.
  • That impact also pushed the door out of its rails: see off track and cables. It can't close anymore? Use the emergency line.

How a section gets matched

First come photos: the damage, plus every sticker inside the door that says who made it, which model it is and its size. A wind-rated door also lists its design pressure and its Florida approval number, and we note both. We order the replacement in that model, width and finish. When it arrives, we release the spring tension, lift out the bent panel, fit the new one, rebalance the door and test it. It's a one-to-two-hour visit.

The wind rating stays with the door

Collier's design wind map runs from about 150 mph inland to 172 near the coast: 163 at Vanderbilt Beach, 167 in Old Naples, 168 at Port Royal and 170 to 171 on Marco Island (county wind layer). A door rated for its address is rated as a whole. A panel borrowed from a lighter model may look the same and hold less, which is why we only fit a section from the door's own approved model.

Unincorporated Collier lets a door be repaired without a permit when the frame isn't touched, and its code adds that the exemption doesn't lift the wind requirements. The repaired door still has to meet its rating.

HOA colors and older doors

Some Naples communities set which garage door colors are allowed, and a section in the wrong shade stands out from the street. We order to the door's own finish and tell you if that exact color isn't made anymore. On older doors the model itself may be discontinued. Reading the sticker on day one settles that before anything is ordered, and then the choice is between living with the dent and a new door. Not sure the panel is the problem? Start with the symptom guide.

Questions about panel repair

Yes, when the door's model is still made and the other sections are sound. The label inside the door tells us which model it is, and the new section is ordered to match its size, finish and wind rating.

The swap itself runs one to two hours. The longer part is waiting for the section, which is ordered once the first visit confirms the model; you'll hear about the order before the install is booked.

Not when the section matches the door's own approved model. A section from a different model can leave the door rated for less than your address needs, so we don't mix models on one door.
